The Eglinton Canal in Galway and the Claddagh Basin

Prothero flies west (not): the oarsman F E Prothero visited many Irish waterways in the 1890s but he did not reach the west. Accordingly, he based his account of the lakes of Galway and Mayo on extracts from guidebooks.
