Cretegaff is not a barge, it’s a Tug. It’s one of six concrete Tugs built in Shoreham on Sea between 1919 and 1920. Cretegaff was the last one of the six to be launched and one of two that survive today. The other, Creteboom, lies abandoned in the River Moy at Ballina. Cretegaff was rescued from the River Boyne between 1986 and 1987, arriving under tow and positioned in Carlingford Marina, initially as a breakwater but now as part of the pontoon and jetty infrastructure
